There are some pieces that test you as a maker — and this was one of them.
This 315mm Planet Earth wall clock is handcrafted from beautifully figured spalted beech, paired with deep blue resin to create a flowing interpretation of the world’s oceans. The natural grain of the timber gives each continent its own character, making this a truly one-of-a-kind piece.
What makes this clock especially striking is the integrated LED backlight. The rear offset design allows a soft ambient glow to halo around the edge when illuminated, turning the clock into a subtle feature light in the evening. By day, it stands as a bold wall piece; by night, it creates atmosphere.
Each stage of this clock — from shaping the continents to pouring and finishing the resin, routing the rear housing, and installing the lighting — has been completed by hand in my Gloucestershire workshop.

Care & Lighting Information
This clock is powered by two separate battery systems:
The clock mechanism requires 1 x AA battery.
The integrated LED backlight requires 3 x AA batteries(housed in the separate rear battery pack).
To replace batteries, simply remove the clock from the wall and access the rear recess. Please take care not to pull on the wiring when handling the LED battery pack.
For best performance, always use fresh batteries and replace all three LED batteries at the same time. Avoid mixing old and new batteries.
The LED backlight is designed to create a soft ambient halo effect behind the clock rather than act as a primary light source.
