How The Humble Woodshed Started

I’m Mike, and The Humble Woodshed began in May 2019 during a time when I was rebuilding my life after a personal breakdown. With the love and support of my family, the care of an excellent GP, and the help of therapy and medication, I gradually found my way forward. Reconnecting with my lifelong passion for woodwork became a vital part of that recovery.

I’m a carpenter by trade, and what started as a therapeutic outlet soon grew into something more meaningful. Over time, The Humble Woodshed has developed into a thoughtful, established craft business — one rooted in care, creativity, and a deep respect for natural materials.

Today, I work from my garden workshop creating handcrafted pieces that celebrate the character of the wood itself. Each item is guided by the grain, markings, and natural imperfections of the timber, ensuring that no two pieces are ever the same. Alongside traditional woodworking, I now incorporate resin into some designs, adding a contemporary element while always allowing the wood to lead the way.

Everything I make is handcrafted and never mass-produced. Wherever possible, I use locally sourced, sustainable timber and reuse materials responsibly. My aim is to create meaningful, well-made pieces that bring a small piece of nature into your home — whether that’s in the form of a clock, an ornament, or a carefully chosen gift to share with friends and family.
